The first-ever WPT Japan Main Event which WPT CEO Adam Pliska attended and got proceedings for the same underway drew a field of 460 entries and outlasting them was Eiji Kimura who defeated Ryo Omori in the heads-up play to win $10,000 WPT Multi-Passport top prize and a WPT trophy.
In total, 14 players entered the final day of the Main Event, including OurGame qualifier Pei Zhen and International DBI player Andrew Shin from Canada. When the field was down to 9, Eiji Kimura was the chip leader with over 2.4 million in chips, having over a quarter of the chips in play.
Eiji Kimura played smartly and maintained his chip lead, dominating the final table and then entering the heads-up battle with a 9:1 chip advantage. The heads-up play lasted only one hand and Kimura emerged the winner. He took down the $10,000 WPT Multi-Passport top prize and the first- ever WPT Japan Trophy, while the runner up-Ryo Omori took home the $4,000 WPT Multi-Passport.
