Anthony Ghamrawi will look to take the first EPT Main Event Title to Austria

It was an exciting day at the Hofburg Palace as the European Poker Tour(EPT) 10 Vienna culminated into the final stages for both the Main Event as well as the High Rollers Event. While the Main Event played down from 17 players to a final table of 8, Anthony Ghamrawi has an edge with 5,150,000 chips, the High Roller Event was abuzz with players.

The €10,000 High Roller Event saw heavy activity and a record turnout to be the largest high roller event of Season 10 of the EPT. The 180 entries field at EPT Barcelona was beaten by 1 entry to form a big prize pool of €1,773,800. After a tiring 10 levels of play, the field was skittled down to 27 when the money bubble burst and then further on played to the final 9 players. With 1.866 M chips, Russian poker player Dmitry Yurasov looks the favorite to take home the top prize of €392,900 but also on the FT are 2011 EPT London Champ Benny Spindler and WSOP Main Event Champ Jonathan Duhamel.

The High Roller Event saw some big names exit on Day 2 including Philipp Gruissem, Mike MacDonald and Toby Lewis. Others who finished in the money include  Sam Trickett (25th – €17,750), EPT10 Prague High Roller champ Ivan Soshnikov (24th – €17,750), Team PokerStars Pro Theo Jorgensen (17th – €23,950), Jonathan Karamlikis (15th – €26,600) and  EPT10 London Main Event champ Robin Ylitalo (12th – €29,250).

In the EPT 10 Vienna Main Event, only 27 runners had returned on Day 5 but it took more than 4 hours to settle down to a final table. Day 4 Chip Leader Timo Pfutzenreuter is also a part of the FT with 3,740,000 chips. Other than that, there isn’t any high profile player or a well known face on the table and Anthony Ghamrawi who is in chip lead could very well drive the first EPT Title home to Austria.

Both Champs should be crowned when play resumes on Saturday. We will keep you updated as EPT10 Vienna wraps up over the weekend.
