Phil Ivey returns to GPI 300 after 10 weeks on the outside

While Daniel Negreanu stayed on top of the GPI 300 for the third week in a row, guess who made a return? None other than Phil Ivey has made a comeback after 10 weeks to land at #293 in the Global Poker Index (GPI) Top 300 rankings of poker players released here today. The elite group continues to be lead by Negreanu and Ole Schemion while Mike Watson makes a return to the top 10 after eight weeks at the expense of Paul Volpe.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

Other changes in the top 10 pack include one spot gain for Jason Mercier and Philipp Gruissem while Dan Shak drops two points to accommodate the former two. While Watson enters the top 10, Paul Volpe loses 5 spots to go down to #15.

Others who gained some ground include Jim Collopy who climbs 87 places to be at #213 and Pratyush Buddiga swims 79 places upwards to be at 137. On the other hand, David Tuthill was the biggest loser in the GPI Rankings as he went down 70 points to be at #138. Raj Vohra also lost ground by 53 places to land at #168.

Meanwhile in the GPI Player of the Year 2014 rankings Mike Mc Donald continues to rule followed by Dominik Panka and Dan Smith. Jeremy Nock also makes a huge move of 111 places to enter the top 10 of the GPI POY at #10.

Amongst Indian poker players, Taha Maruf continues to lead the charge followed by Gautam Sabharwal. Rahul Byrraju and Arjun Pasricha are third and fourth amongst Indian poker players in the GPI Rankings.
