GPI: Ole Schemion at his career best; Marvin Reyyenmaier out of Top 10

GPInew logoOle Schemion is at his career best with sixth consecutive week at #1 on the Global Poker Index (GPI) this week. However, this German player is not expected to retain his spot for much longer as he isn’t expected at the WSOP (World Series of Poker) till later in the series. Scott Seiver at #2, Byron Kaverman at #3 and Vanessa Selbst at #4 are all intact in their respective spots this week.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

2010 WSOP World Champion Jonathan Duhamel makes it back to Top 10 after only a week. Duhamel climbed 4 spots to land at #7 due to his final table performance in the High Roller event at the PokerStars Canada Cup in Montreal. Unfortunately, Marvin Rettenmaier, the Mad One, is out of the Top 10 for the first time in over two years. The last time was in the week of May 21, 2012. Rettenmaier now ranks #11 falling down 6 spots.

Greg Merson the former 2012 WSOP World Champion earned his highest ranking since start of 2013 poker season at #171. Merson moved up 79 spots owing to the 15th place finish at the WSOP National Championship in Atlantic City. Both the WSOP National Championship winner and runner up Dominik Nitsche and Athanasios Polychronopoulos are big movers this week as well. Nitsche moves up 40 spots to land at #40 and Polychronopoulos jumps 67 spots to land at #67.

Amongst the ones loosing spots this week are the WPT Champion Club members Giacomo Fundaro, Chino Rheem and Matt Waxman. Fundaro lost 31 spots to rank at #112, Rheem 29 spots to rank at #207 and Waxman 24 spots to land at #84.
