GPI Rankings: A Pair of Former World #1’s Climb Back to the Top

scott-seiverFor another week, Scott Seiver (GPI#1, =) reigns at the top. Ole Schemion’s (GPI#2, +1) is back to #2 after his strong Main Event performance at the EPT Grand Final. This week saw another former World #1- Dan Smith (GPI#3, +17) rising and shining back into contention. Smith skyrocketed into the lead group after 90 days thereby earning his best ranking this season. Thanks to his pair of critical cashes at the EPT Grand Final, including an 8th place finish in the 25K High Roller event.

This is the second week in a row that saw an arrival of new member in Top 10. Last week, Mustapha Kanit (GPI#11, -1) moved in who is now sitting on the bubble at #11. Furthermore, his Global Poker Masters Italian teammate Dario Sammartino (GPI#12 CB, +23) is sitting at his career-best #12.

On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leader-board, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.

PokerStars Team Pro Isaac Haxton (GPI#126, +148), made an impressive feat by jumping half the GPI300 field this week to earn his highest spot in gpi rankings since June 2013. Former World #2 Philipp Gruissem (GPI#152, +123), who slumped in last week’s standings, is back up to safe zone, and credit goes to his 5K No-Limit Hold’em side event victory at the EPT Grand Final.

This week saw Anatoly Filatov (GPI#209, -70) falling to a one-year low #209. After scoring over 3,400 points in 2014, he is yet to score points this season. 2010 World Series of Poker November Niner John Racener (GPI#193, -55), a member of the GPI300 since June 2014, also fell headlong this week.
