GPI Rankings: Dominik Nitsche Enters the Top 10 Rankings for the 1st time in his Career

GPI rankingJason Mercier (GPI#1, =) continues his reign for the fourth consecutive week at the top of the GPI World Poker Rankings. This season Mercier has crossed the $1 million mark in live tournament winnings for the 7th time in his eight-year career. This week GPI Top 10 Rankings saw a German star entry and the drop of Belgian legend for the first time in the very long time.

On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leaderboard, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.

The recent entry of Dominik Nitsche (GPI#8 CB, +4) in the Top 10, this week, seems to be the significant one. Though Nitsche is one among the most consistent players on tour for the past few years, but this is for the first time that he got entry into the the world elite group. Thanks to his successful winnings in 2015. Though, Nitsche has not been the top performer but six Top 10 finishes so far, including a trio of runner-up results (most recently at the Bellagio Cup XI) and six total results at the 2015 World Series of Poker.

Furthermore, the entry of Dominik Nitsche saw the exit of Davidi Kitai (GPI#17, -10) from GPI Top 10 Rankings. Still the Belgian superstar spent a remarkable 50 consecutive weeks inside the Top 10. In 2014, the third WSOP bracelet pushed Kitai to move to #2 on the World Poker Rankings but his ultimate goal of being ranked #1 in the World is still imminent.

This week a special congratulations go out to Upeshka Desilva (GPI#199), Ryan Van Sanford (GPI#260) and the German trio of Paul Hoefer (GPI#267), Stefan Schillhabel (GPI#293) and Kilian Kramer (GPI#298), who all make their debut inside the GPI World Poker Rankings Top 300 this week.
