This week in Global Poker Index (GPI) top 300, German Poker pro Marvin Rettenmaier has kept his last week’s improving streak and has climbed two more places to place himself on third place. Two players who are denying him the top spot are Philipp Gruissem on second place and Jason Mercier, who is enjoying his long stay on the top spot from last eight weeks. The top ten list has seen some good movement this week, but none of the players has been able to replace top two poker pros.
The biggest jump was made by Ole Schemion, who was at the end of the top ten list last week and has jumped six places to place himself right after Rettenmaier on the fourth place. Michael Watson slipped four places and is on seventh place now. After being in top two for quite long time, Watson was not able to deliver something extraordinary and his ranking goes up and down like a See-Saw. Other players who made a dip are Joseph Cheong (-1), Stephen O’Dwyer (-2) and Andrew Lichtenberger (-1).
Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier are two other players who were able to hold on to their last week’s positions.
GPI is a ranking of the top 300 poker players of the world and the website publishes it weekly. Players are ranked based on their performance in cash positions in qualifying tournaments over 6 periods of six months. A cash position is taken to be any position where in a player gets a part of the total prize money. Qualifying tournaments are open poker tournaments with a buy-in of at least $1,000 and with 21 or more entrants.
