Huu Dung Nguyen Wins Opening APT Event;Dzmitry Urbanovich Joins as Partypoker Team Pro

The opening event of the Asian Poker Tour Championships Philippines 2017, which was being hosted at Resorts World Manila, found a champion in Vietnam’s Huu Dung Nguyen. The opener proved a big draw and drew 318 entries, generating a prize pool of USD 77,110. It was a two-day event and the Day 2 saw 88 players return to the felts with New Zealand’s Murray Poole leading them all in chips.Picture2

After Japan’s Tomoyasu Arai going on the money bubble, the final table began with Nguyen leading the pack. The early elimination on the final table included two Filipino players-Christopher Pulido followed shortly by Michael De Leon. Up next, it was Singapore’s Corine Shi going in 6th place. Australia’s Mike Colby finished 5th, while Trifie Montebon Jr. ended up finishing 4th. At three-handed, Hanisch met his end, when his lower full house lost to the bigger full house of the chip lead Nguyen.

The heads-up battle began between Jacque Ramsden and Huu Dung Nguyen who began as the massive chip leader. Although Ramsden was able to double up but couldn’t stop the firing Nguyen. The final hand saw Nguyen holding Ah-10c and Ramsden having Ks-3c. The board came As-6d-4c- 9s- Jd.Nguyen ultimately took down the title for a whopping US$ 19,050 in the first place prize money.

Dzmitry Urbanovich Joins as Newest Member of Team Partypoker

Belarus pro-Dzmitry Urbanovich is the newest player to join Sponsored Member of Team Partypoker. The 21-year old poker pro will be representing the brand of Party Poker across the Million North America event at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal on 5th and 6th May next month.

Talking to media persons, Urbanovich said: “I can’t wait to join the PartyPoker team. I have already played PartyPoker Million Sochi and MILLIONS and absolutely loved the events. There are so many great PartyPoker LIVE events that I’ll struggle to fit them all in. I am also planning my schedule for the online $20,000,000 Powerfest that starts on May 7, which I am sure will be a great success.”

He is the second from the region to be signed as pro team member after Russian Anatoly Filatov.
