Indian poker player Kunal Patni wins the First Spadie of the 2014 ACOP

ACOPTeam India is off to a glorious start in 2014 Asian Championship of Poker(ACOP) at Macau with Kunal Patni winning the inaugural event – Rebuy Championship with a whopping 1st cash prize of HK$176,000. Kunal outplayed a field of 134 players to seize his biggest career win in live tournaments.

The ACOP kicked off on 24th October at PokerStars Live Macau with Event 1: $2,500 Rebuy Championship drawing a sizeable pool of poker players from around the world to the poker tables. Day1 saw the field skirling down from 134 to 16 towards towards the end of the day. The remaining players vied to finish in the top 16 to win from the prize pool which cruised past its guaranteed sum to HK$700,000.

The poker action continued to Day 2 and after an array of 189 rebuys and add-ons, the final table was formed with Naoya Kihara busting out in 10th place. Team PokerStars Pro Naoya Kihara was the strongest contender in the final table battle but it was Kunal Patni had some other plans. Kunal steadily moved up the charts defeating his rivals with few hair-raising hands on the table. In the ultimate rounds of play Kunal outperformed and clinced to the 1st ACOP title bagging HK$176,000.

This win has invigorated the Indian poker community and the Indian players set to play in further events of 2014 ACOP. The tournament has entered Day 3 with Deepstack Championship underway on its tables. Various satellites are running alongside for the $100,000 Main Event which guarantees a massive prize pool of HK$15 million.
