Warne’s 20-year-old son Jackson Warne is currently in the news for winning a Charity Poker Tournament organized by Tony Hachem, whose brother Joe Hachem was the winner of 2005 WSOP Main Event. Held in the Melbourne Museum on Wednesday night, the tournament saw a field of 400 runners that included many renowned celebrities, including cricket ace – Shane Warne. In the end, it was Warne’s son who went on to eventually beat his father along with a dozen of Melbourne’s biggest celebrities to win the tournament. He took home a new Kia worth $20,000, 2-night stay at the Star Hotel, flights to the Gold Coast and VIP tickets to the next year’s charity poker tournament.

For Warne, losing the poker game to his own son was more of a win than a loss. The former leg spinner was super happy to lose to his son than to win and this shows how much he loves his kids.

Organized to raise funds for the Australian Sports Foundation’s Grassroots for Kids, this was actually a charity poker event where players were allowed add-ons and rebuys. After the add-ons and rebuys closed, no one could stop the budding player Jackson Warne and he went on to win the tournament.

After retiring from cricket, Shane Warne – the former captain of the Australian cricket team has become a poker aficionado. He travels to various parts of the world to take part in professional and charity poker events. With Warne and other Australian celebrities playing poker and raising money for kids, we expect to change the game’s reputation in Australia and other countries of the world.
