The $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw event at the ongoing 2018 World Series of Poker (WSOP) drew a total of 321 entries and generated $722,250 prizepool. It was the young German pro – Johannes Becker who won the coveted title to earn his first bracelet and the top prize of $180,455.
The tournament, which featured a rotation of ace-to-five, deuce-to-seven, and Badugi versions of lowball, turned out to be a boon for Germany’s Johannes Becker, who missed out on a bracelet in 2017, finishing 2nd in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship for a massive $862,649.
Becker defeated a tough final table, which had the likes of two-time bracelet winners Luis Velador and Christopher Vitch and one-time bracelet winner and a high-stakes poker pro – Scott Seiver. After Jesse Hampton went out in the 3rd place from the final table, it was the heads-up battle between the well-known Scott Seiver and the eventual champion Johannes Becker.
Seiver dominated three-handed play and held almost 75% of the chips in play but eventually it was Becker who took the lead in heads-up and emerged the winner. “Even though I didn’t win the bracelet last year, [the experience] was a lot more meaningful than this bracelet, given that the event was bigger and the field was tougher. But I’m still very happy to have won my first bracelet,”
