Saying that a huge Indian contingent is cheering/railing/playing at this years Macau Poker Cup(MPC) would be stating the obvious. But a big contingent always means a gigantic pool of talent which compliments each other. The result is some deep runs and good news everyday. From the start of MPC, Indians have made headlines in all events including the Red Dragon Main Event. Perhaps what Rajeev Raut of Rockets Poker Room said on a Faceboom group, ” An Indian in every event”, is actually coming true. And he seems to have taken it literally and taken the task to heart.

Raut makes his second final table of MPC22 with a 2,64,000 chips stack in the Event 11, HKD 5000 NLH to follow up on his 4th place finish at Event 4: $2,000 Deepstack PLO (re-entry),  Giving him company is Adda52 Team Spades Kunal Patni with a big stack of 450K. Together these two gentlemen keep the collective hopes of the Indian community high of bringing back an MPC title. The event which saw 289 entrants also had other Indians in the field but these two survivors will come back to the PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams Casino to weave their dream. Both players are guaranteed of at least a HKD 19,200 payout in the event where the winner takes home HKD 271,435. And both players are above the chip average of 195,000 chips and have a fitting chance.

Red Dragon Main Event

Its the Red Dragon where all the action is and with a huge Indian poker contingent in attendance, the main target is of course the red beauty. As earlier reported by OPN, Day 1A was a good one for Indian with several making it to Day 2. Kunal Patni along with Kavish Kukreja sat amongst the top 10 stacks of Day 1A. But Day 1B and 1C were slightly disappointing for Indians as Bobbe Suri, Rahul Byraju, Shashwat Agarwal, Amit Ajwani, Manjeet Asrani and Sanjay Agarwal were all eliminated on this day. But Sanjay Agarwal brightened the day for the country with a 12th place finish in the $3000 NLH event cashing HKD 10,400.

Day 1C was a huge one with massive attendance and Raymond Wu sitting atop at the end. There were 271 in the field with no Indian participation. Day 1D begins today and so will the final table of the Event 11 with Raut and Patni in attendance.

OPN spoke to both of them exclusively and Rajeev said, “I’m feeling really excited as i made with a very dry card run & hoping for my card rush to start on the final table… Field was a very tough & im glad I’ve made it this far.” Kunal echoed some of these thoughts when he said, “I have been very excited. The adrenaline rush has been awesome. Haven’t even slept too well. Got up pretty early because of this. Final table starts in about 4 hours. Hope to get some more sleep again before that.”
