GPI Rankings Update: Silverman in Top 10, Kuganov falls off

GPIThe GPI Rankings released by Global Poker Index this week continue to have Marvin Rettenmaier and Ole Schemion in the top 2 slots while High Roller Steven Silverman made an entry into the top 10. Each week, the Global Poker Index releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods.

While Rettenmaier has been occupying top slot for sometime now, Ole Schemion jumped to number 2, a fortnight back. But the story of the week was Steven Silverman who jumped five spots to reach the Number 10 position in GPI Rankings. Fellow High Roller Igor Kurganov, a regular in the top player rankings slipped out to be at No . 12 this week.

The other top 10 elite rankings remained the same with Negreanu, Watson and Mercier occupying permanent slots. In the GPI Player of the Year rankings also there was little change with German Schemion on top. Paul Volpe and Mike Watson remain in close contention of the spot they have occupied at some point this year. Rettenmaier also continued his climb in the POY gaining two spots this week to be at No.7.
