Ole Schemion has become the first-ever WPT European Championship Main Event winner. He won a massive €218,435 ($255,352) after defeating the American pro-Michael Mrakes at Casino Spielbank of Berlin. Along with the first prize, Schemion also earned the coveted WPT Champions Cup.

Post his win, Schemion said, “I had such a good feeling about this tournament since Day one.”

It was the first WPT title for the 25-year-old German pro -Schemion and that too in the first-ever WPT Main Event held on German soil. With this epic win, he now joins the likes of Dominik Nitsche, Dietrich Fast, and Stefan Schillhabel as German WPT Champions Club members and also takes his poker resume to the next level with $13,8 million in total cashes. He sits on 3rd place on Germany’s all-time tournament money list.  His biggest cash came back in 2016, when he took down the EPT Monte Carlo €100,000 buy-in Super High Roller for nearly €1,6 million.

Schemion beat Michal Mrakes in the heads-up battle. Mrakes had a great 2017, as he finished 14th in the WSOP Europe Main Event and 3rd in the PokerStars Championship Prague Main Event. However, he ended his game finishing as runner-up in this event. On the last hand, Schemion had Kc-7c and Mrakes held 7s-5s. With a King falling on the board, Schemion won the coveted title.
