The Venetian Resort Las Vegas Postpones Its Summer DeepStack Championship Poker Series

The COVID-19 continues to play havoc with the live poker. One after the other, poker tournaments continue to be canceled, postponed or moved online. The latest to join the list is the Deepstack Championship Poker Series, which is widely considered second in prestige to the WSOP. The marquee series was set to run from May 4 to July 26, with 144 events scheduled to run for 13 weeks.

As expected, The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas has postponed its summer Deepstack Championship Poker Series due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Venetian Poker Room had suspended operations on March 16, but no official update came regarding the major summer series. In late April, The Venetian Resort Las Vegas then took to its poker room’s Twitter account to announce that the series will be postponed for a later date. The Venetian room, like the rest of casinos in the city, remains closed with no timetable on when the properties will reopen. This comes after the WSOP organizers recently announced the postponement of the most-awaited 51st World Series of Poker (WSOP).

The 2019 DeepStack Championship Poker Series saw the prominent Russian poker pro Andrey Pateychuk outlasting a strong field of 564 entries to win $547,777 and his first CPPT title.
