Triton Poker High Roller Series: Michael Soyza Wins HK$500K 6-Max To Claim His Career Best Score

Malaysia’s Michael Soyza is a big name in the Asian poker circuit. He emerged victorious in the HK$500K Six-Max, the third event of the ongoing 2019 Triton Poker High Roller Series Jeju series. The 29-year-old poker player outlasted a strong field of 81 entries (including 32 re-entries) to take down his maiden Triton title along with his career-best live score of HK$11.15 Million (US$ 1.4 Million).

Soyza has US$5,037,564 in total live earnings and is ranked 5th on the Malaysia All-Time Money List. Talking about his victory in the 6-max event, Soyza said, “Feels pretty good.It’s nice to win something. You just play your hands and hopefully it works out well.Win flips, you know. That’s how you do it.”

The event created a HK$ 38,070,000 in total prizepool, which was shared by top 9 finishers. Tong Siow Choon (8th – HK$1,439,000) and Stanley Choi (9th – HK$1,100,000) missed out the final table.

The final showdown between Soyza and Canada’s Sam Greenwood did not last long. On the final hand of heads-up, Soyza held 7h 7c and Greenwood had Js 9s. The board opened 8d 10d 3c 8h Kc where Soyza won his maiden Triton title as well as his best live score of a whopping HK$11,150,000.

Talking about his HU opponent and a well-known pro Sam Greenwood, Soyza said, “Sam’s a good player, so I’m just lucky I had a good spot. I decided to take it and it worked out pretty well.”
