Vietnam was in the spotlight of Asian Poker community last year when Huy Pham won the APT Resorts World Manila Main Event taking home over PHP $3 million. Eyeing the popularity of poker in Vietnam, Asian Poker Tour has announced to include it as one of the stops in 2015 Calendar of outings. Starting May 6, APT Vietnam will be the first major poker tournament to be played in the country.
In a press release on Thursday, Grand Ho Tram Strip president Shaun McCamley and World Gaming Group CEO Andrew Scott announced that Vietnam was set to host its first major poker festival with APT Vietnam set to take place from May 6 – 13, 2015.
The tournament will be operated in the regulations set out by the Ba Ria Vung Tau Department of Industry and Trade, with the full schedule of events to be released in coming weeks.
McCamley said: “Following our signing of an agreement with WGG last month, it is extremely exciting to be able to announce the first ever international, world-class poker tournament in Vietnam will be played at the Grand Ho Tram Strip. We’re absolutely delighted to be bringing one of the world’s most recognizable poker brands – the Asian Poker Tour – to Ho Tram.”
Scott said: “Make sure to clear your diaries from May 6 to 13, because the combination of the world-class 5-star facilities at Ho Tram, Vietnam’s fantastic weather, a 2 kilometer-long sandy beach just meters from your hotel room, a Greg Norman-designed Championship golf course and top-quality international standard poker will be impossible to beat!”
The Ho Tram Strip where APT Vietnam will take place is an integrated resort and hotel with world-class entertainment and gaming facilities along the pristine beaches of Ho Tram.
Huy Pham will join the field to clinch the top poker event title of his country as well as many resident players will get to prove their mettle.
