Hosting two new events in the Cambodian region is a good move by WPT, because gambling is illegal in Thailand. It is expected that the new events will attract a huge number of players especially from Thailand as they will have to just cross the border and play in two major WPT events in Cambodia.

According to the WPT’s CEO Adam Pliska, hosting the two new WPT events in the Cambodian region is a chance to expand the WPT and cater to the growing demand for major poker events in the Asia.

Addressing media persons, Adam Pliska said “This new partnership bringing two WPT National events to the Cambodian region allows the World Poker Tour to continue its global expansion and showcases Asias growing demand for major poker events across a burgeoning region. With WPT National Thailand and WPT National Cambodia being held in close proximity to one another just days apart, players will have an easy opportunity to play in two world-class poker tournaments at beautiful resorts. The WPT looks forward to these events being the first of many in the region.

The main event of both the WPT National Thailand and the WPT National Cambodia will have a re-entry formats and players will be allowed two entries (one original and one re-entry) on every starting day. Hence, the players would be able to enter the tournament as many as 6 times.
