WPT Vietnam: Sajwan & Munot Advance To Day 2 In Kickoff; Gagan Juneja Finishes 3rd In Event 2

 The third edition of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Vietnam kicked off yesterday at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City with the series opener – Kickoff event. The first flight – Day 1A of the 16,500,000 VND buy-in event drew 90 entries. Out of these, only 11 players made it to Day 2 and among them were the two Indians challengers in Jaideep Sajwan and the well-known pro Ashish Munot.

Sajwan is a talented player from the Indian poker circuit. His best live score had come when he finished 589th for $ 23,940 in the WSOP 2018 Main Event. In 2019, he has two cashes to his name – a1055th place finish for $15,970 in the WSOP Main Event and a 57th place in the APPT Manila National. He did pretty well on Day 1A of the Kickoff event and bagged the third largest stack with 225,000 chips among the 11 survivors, who are led by France’s Adrien Ramos holding 316,000.

Another Indian to progress was Ashish Munot whose last recorded live cash was in the APT Vietnam ₫ 35,000,000 + 3,500,000 NLH Championship Event where he finished 6th for ₫ 319,830,000 (9.48 Lac). He bagged 71,000 and will be looking to stack up and finish deep when he returns for Day 2 play.

The first day of the WPT Vietnam also saw the DeepStack Hyper Turbo taking place. The event featuring VND 6,600,000 buy-in registered 57 entries. Topping the field was Korea’s Seong Il Hwang who earned VND 159,235,000 after beating Cao Thang Dang (VND 93,550,000) in heads-up. India’s Gagan Juneja ended up finishing third in this event and earned VND 58,607,000 (INR 1.83 Lac).
