The dream of winning WSOP bracelet eventually comes true. Indian players Aditya Sushant & Nipun Java have won Event #10: $1,000 Tag Team No-Limit Hold’Em, claiming the first-ever bracelet for themselves and India. They claimed the top prize of $150,637 for their amazing show in the event. Sushant and Java defeated a field huge field of 843 teams. Ex Adda52 Team Por Sushant defeated Pablo Mariz in heads-up to win first career bracelets and $150,637. Mariz who teamed up with his fellow online grinder David Guay ended up finishing in 2nd place and took home $93,074 in the prize.
Java and Sushant are two Indian-born friends who first met in the United States. While Java lives in the US, Sushant still lives in his home country, India. Java boasts of two million in career tournament earnings, along with a WSOP Circuit ring. Back in 2015, he enjoyed a great run at the 2015 WSOP when he finished 2nd in Event #46: $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha Six Handed for $270,509 to claim his largest-career cash. Sushant is almost touching $300,000 in cashes and this result is his biggest.
When asked about how he felt about winning his first WSOP bracelet, Java said, “Amazing. Amazing feeling. I’m so happy I was with a fellow Indian. We won something. This was a last-minute call for us to team up. I had another teammate drop out because he couldn’t wake up on time. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be a team, and who knows what would’ve happened. It was destiny. Meant to be.”
It was Sushant from Chennai who closed out the tournament for the team. It was almost by accident, as Java needed to use the bathroom and Sushant tagged in. After few hands, Sushant eliminated Radzivonau in 3rd place to take a huge chip lead into heads-up play against the team of Guay & Mariz.
The heads-up game for Guay began in fashion and he secured early double-up, but it didn’t hurt Sushant much, as he had a huge chip lead into the heads-up play. These players continued their smart play but on the last hand Guay’s team fate was sealed when Sushant called all-in bet of Pablo Mariz with his As-8h and was up against Ks-Qd. The flop brought up Qs-Qc-3c. The board needed to run out with aces for Team India, which actually happened. The turn was Ac,giving India some hope and finally when Ad hit the river, everyone went into frenzy. Team India won their first bracelet.
When asked what was going through his mind in the final hand, Sushant laughed and said, “What was going through my mind? That I need to hit an ace and ace, two aces back-to-back.”
