WSOP 2019 ME: Adam Owen Bags Day 1B Chip Lead; Yudhishter Jaswal Headlines Indian Chip Counts

Another day at the Rio All-Suite and Hotel for the 2019 World Series of Poker is in the books. After over 12 hours of intense action, Day 1B of the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em MAIN EVENT finally came to an end with a little over 1,400 players advancing to Day 2AB. The day saw a total of 1,915 entries, which took the total field to 3,250 entries through the opening two flights- Day 1A and Day 1B.

The player to bag the largest stack at the end of Day 1B was UK’s Adam Owen, who has already scored 2 cashes at the ongoing series and will now be looking for another score in the Main Event. Already holding several poker titles and over $3.2 million in live cashes, Owen bagged a massive stack of 351,800. He took the lead during the last level of the day when he hit a full house with K5.

Some other big stack from Day 1B were the three-time bracelet winner Asi Moshe (330,200), Gary Blackwood (330,200), Tyler Gaston (329,200), Brandon Frazier (298,400) and Galen Hall (295,700). There were many former WSOP Main Event champions and among them, 2013 winner Ryan Riess bagged 89,300. 2004 Champion Greg Raymer ended with 73,100. Joe Hachem bagged 61,300. Greg Merson totalled just 25,000, while Chris Ferguson ended the day with 36,100.

Team India

Day 1B saw many Indians in action and eventually 6 of them advanced to Day 2 AB. Yudhishter Jaswal, who has already cashed in  5 events at the ongoing series, ended with the largest stack of 193,400 and will be looking for another big score when he returns for Day 2AB. Aditya Systla, who finished 14th for $5,819 in the 2019 WSOP SALUTE TO WARRIORS, bagged 162,700 in chips.

Other Indians to progress were WSOP first timer Siddharth Karia (123,300) and Ankit Ahuja who had won Event #75: $1,100 NLH MonsterStack of the Venetian DeepStack Championship for $266,824 (INR 1.84 Crores). Adda52 Celebrity pro Minissha Lamba was also seen in action and she bagged 83,500 in chips. She had cashed $5,005 for a 252nd place finish in Event #50: Monster Stack of the 2019 WSOP and will be looking to stack up and score another cash. Another Adda52 Pro to advance from the day was Kunal Patni and he ended with 66,500 in chips. All Indians to qualify from Day 1B will be joining five Day 1A Indian survivors on Day 2AB, who are headlined by Abhinav Iyer (79,500).
