Indians, Swedes Share The Honours In IPS Main Event

It was split honours for Indian and Swedish Poker players as the main event of India Poker Series(IPS)-19 ended in the wee hours at Casino Carnival, Goa here today. The 20K Freezeout event had a field of 16 players competing for the prize pool of Rs. 3.24 Lakhs and 3 places were to finish in the cash.

Shailesh Shrivastav finished first and was richer by Rs.171,000 while Swedish poker player, Jani Hyffinen won Rs.112,860 for a second place finish. Bharat Agarwalla, 2nd place finisher at the 10K Double Chance Freezeout event on friday took third spot in the main event and got Rs. 58,140. Another Swede Jones Rebane was placed fourth but failed to finish in the money. Also notable was a fifth place finisher, Harjas Singh from Delhi who had got a seat in the poker tournament after winning a satellite of IPS on www.adda52.com. 

The Poker tournament climaxes today with 10k Pot Limit Omaha action to take off the floating casino tonight. Action will start at 10 PM and is expected to stretch in to Monday morning,
