Biography:

Jonathan Duhamel is a French-Canadian Poker player, who was born on August 24, 1987. He was raised in a family of four in a town Boucherville which is close to Montreal, Canada. His father, an airplane engine mechanic and cashier mother were very strict and disciplined in their life. They encouraged Jonathan to take a part-time job after school and he found his first job at a strawberry farm when he was just 13. According to Duhamel, his parent’s tough love made him strong and helped him in learning the importance of hard work in one’s life.

Jonathan’s introduction to poker happened when he was studying Business Administration and Finance at University. He used to play with his friends and with time the poker game became his passion. After college, aimless Duhamel used his time to travel the world. And on one such trip to Europe he participated in European Poker Tour (EPT) in Prague. Playing in a tour for the first time, Duhamel finished 10th. From then on he started participating in different poker tournaments.

The big turning point in his life came in the year 2010, when he won the main event of the World Series of Poker. He was the first Canadian player ever to capture the main event bracelet at WSOP.  This win made Duhamel internationally known and one of the famous stars in the world of poker. His highest ever career earning came from this win, which was a huge amount of $ 8.9 million.

Duhamel who is a big fan of Montreal Canadiens (Canadian Ice Hockey Club) donated $100,000 to the Montreal Canadiens Children Foundation from his prize money. Duhamel came into the news once again when he reported a home invasion in December, 2011. In this robbery, the robbers took away his WSOP main event Bracelet away along with other belongings.

Currently Duhamel is a member of Team Pokerstar Pros and plays poker tournaments all around the year. He has also written a book on his life named, ‘’Cards on Table’’. According to him he and other players talk about the different poker strategy and about how to improve their game regularly, which is way more helpful than reading about the game.
