Biography-

Doyle F. Brunson, an American poker player was born and brought up in a small town of Longworth (Texas). He completed high school from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Since his childhood, Doyle had a love for sport. While doing his studies, he managed to continue his interest and became an athlete. Soon he joined the All-state Texas Basketball Team and in 1950 participated in Texas Interscholastic Track Meet and won the one-mile event.

When Doyle was sure about pursuing his career as a basketball player; unfortunately he met with an accident and lost his ability to walk as his leg was bruised badly into pieces. This accident changed his life forever. He was completely shattered but had positive hopes in heart. He opted to continue his studies again and got a master’s degree in administrative education in 1954. In the meanwhile, Brunson started playing poker. Although, Doyle played it for fun but his winnings helped him to pay his expenses.

Soon after his graduation, he took a job as a business machines salesman. On the very first day he got an invitation from his colleagues to play seven-card stud where he earned more than a month’s salary in just 3 hours. It was the most unforgettable moment for him which happened to be the turning point of his career. He left his job and started playing poker professionally.

His journey in the world of poker began with small stake games at Exchange Street in Texas with his friend Dwayne Hamilton. Together they traveled around Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, and started playing for higher stakes and met many fellow professionals. Soon, Hamilton moved back to Fort Worth, while Doyle continued his journey with other professionals.

After a huge loss in Las Vegas, Brunson finally decided to get settled in Las Vegas. With all his skills he made up to many WSOP events. The poker pro wrote a book Super/System which was originally self-published in 1978. Its second edition came out in 2004. Presently, he is residing in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife Louise, son Todd and daughter Pamela. His son and daughter also love to play poker. In Fact, Todd has won a bracelet in Omaha Hi-Lo at the 2005 WSOP. And His daughter Pamela also played in the 2007 World Series of Poker and 2009 World Series of Poker.
