Poker action climaxed last week with Julian Thomas winning the World Poker Tour (WPT) Prague Main Event to take down the title and $283,827. Thomas prevailed over 306 entrants getting membership to the elite WPT Champions Club.

Visali Firsau who was looking to better his runners up position at the WPT Grand Prix De Paris behind Mohsin Charania entered the final table in chip lead in Prague. But it was another second place finish for him here and he won $185,796. Day 4 chip leader Ognjen Sekularac
was also looking to seal a better finish than the fifth place he managed here.

The WPT Prague Main Event Final Results are:

Rank Name Prize
1 Julian Thomas $283,827
2 Vasili Firsau $185,796
3 Andrey Shatilov $116,982
4 Gintaras Simaitis $86,703
5 Ognjen Sekularac $64,683
6 Valeri Savov $52,297

Action was fairly slow till three-way battle started between Thomas, Firsau and Shatilov. It was the elimination of Shatilov which gave Thomas a huge chip lead and finally lead to him winning the tourney. This gigantic three way hand had the players on the following:

Thomas: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Firsau: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Shatilov: {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Shatilov had gone all in while Thomas snap called and Firsau also called the bet. The board tabled with  {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.eliminating Shatilov and giving Thomas a huge pot. Heads up action thus lasted only 2 hands with the final hand where Thomas raised pre-flop and Firsau called all-in. This is what happened:

Firsau:  {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Thomas:  {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

The board was  {8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds} thus giving Thomas the Main Event win.
