GPI: Reshuffling in Top 10, Negreanu back to No.1

danielnegreanugpiDaniel Negreanu reclaimed the top spot in the Global Poker Index (GPI) this week, replacing Ole Schemion. Schemion falls to #3 spot in the world this week. Standing at #2 place is Vanessa Selbst, who reached her highest ranking on GPI. Battle lines over the top spot are drawn between Selbst and Kid Poker as the two Team PokerStar pros are set to battle in Monte Carlo.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

A lot of shuffling took place this week in the Top 10. Ravi Raghavan is back to Top 10 this week after two months moving to #9. He owns his position to Philipp Gruissem who drops out of Top 10 this week, falling 5 spots, ranking at #15. Canadian combo Mile McDonald rises 1 spot, now placed at #6 and Sorel Mizzi rises two spots at #7. On the other hand the American duo Dan Smith and Shannon Shorr, both fall 2 places and are now ranked at #8 and #10 respectively.

Michael Mizrachi made a return to the winner’s circle at the Live Events International 2014 event in Montenegro where he won the Ultra Deepstack event. This improved his rank to #143, moving 82 places. WSOP bracelet winner Naoya Kihara climbed 106 spots this week moving to #183. Another big mover this week was Samantha Cohen who climbed 45 spots to reach #90.

Canadian pro Timothy Adams falls down 80 spots this week, ranking at 158. EPT London Champion Robin Ylitalo also fell down the ladder by 51 points, now ranking 195.
