GPI Rankings: Ole Schemion Back on Top

After spending eight weeks as No 2 behind Daniel Negreanu in the GPI rankings, Ole Schemion returned to the top of the list riding on a 8th place finish in a 2K No-Limit Hold’em event at EPT Vienna.For the first time since Feb. 12, Daniel Negreanu is no longer the leader in the GPI and is now #2 player. Joining them is Vanessa Selbst, who begins her third straight week as the #3 player in the world. Other positions on the list remain the same as last week except Sorel Mizzi (GPI#9,) and Philipp Gruissem (GPI#10) who switched positions.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

Moving up this week on the GPI is Fabrice Soulier who joined the Top 100 for the first time in over 40 weeks by climbing 113 places at #64. He recently won the High Rollers event at the EPT10 in Vienna. Other big names who climbed up the charts this week are Vitaly Lunkin(4th place in EPT10 Vienna, HR Event) who went up by 141 places to be at #153 and Jonathan Karamalikis who reached #156 by climbing 79 spots.

Phil Hellmuth made the biggest move down this week falling over 125 spots to #258 owing to lack of tournament participation. Michael Linster and Liv Boeree also moved down this week by 64 and 62 spots respectively. Linster is now ranked at #268 and Boeree at #221.
