After 5 days of action, the 2014 Poker Stars.et Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau Main Event came to a close with Jiajun Lin topping the field and winning an impressive payday of HKD 2,776,000. The final table started with 9 players and the first to be eliminated was Indian Sailesh Verma taking home HKD 198,140.
Verma moved in on Thomas Mcgarrity who was the chip leader of the day. Mcgarrity called, and Verma was holding a pair of pocket jacks against Mcgarrity’s. Unfortunately, the board ran out to see Mcgarrity connect his ace and sending Verma home.
By the end of the first level both Yat Wai Cheng and Jean-Marie Peyron were both eliminated. Cheng was eliminated against Cyril and an hour later, Carlos Kuo Chang was also eliminated when playing against him. At the start of Level 26, Yen Han Chen was busted playing against Andre, taking home HKD 575,000.
The chip leader of the day, Mcgarrity was the next to be busted at fourth place. Mcgarrity opened to 120,000 holding. Billy “The Croc” Argyros called holding .The board ran out and it was over for Mcgarrity.
The next to hit the rail was the most experienced player, Billy “The Croc” Argyros, taking a payday of HKD 940,000 and third place.
The seesaw battle between Cyril Andre and Jiajun Liu continued for hours with chip lead changing hands throughout play. In the final hand, Andre moved all in from the button, only to be snap called by Liu.Liu had and Andre . The dealer spread out the shooting Andre straight into the lead. But with the flop , his lead was short-lived. The river produced the and Jiajun Liu was crowned the winner.
This is a second time in a row; Chinese players have won this event as last year Alexandre Chieng from China took away the top prize.
