GPI: Ole Schemion in Top 10 for 46 consecutive weeks

Even after dropping points this week, Ole Schemion is still the #1 player in the world for the fourth consecutive week on the Global Poker Index (GPI). Schemion has now been on the GPI Top 10 for 46 consecutive weeks. With 45th World Series of Poker  (WSOP) knocking at the door, last year Main Event Champion Ryan Reiss enters GPI 300 just in time to defend his crown.

Each week, the Global Poker Index (GPI) releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player’s results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods. The GPI rankings released every Thursday rank the top 300 players as well maintain a Player of the Year Leader board also.

Moving one spot each this week are Byron Kaverman at #3, Vanessa Selbst at #4 and Marvin Rettenmaier at #5. This affected Philipp Gruissem who drops 3 spots this week to land at #6. New entrant this week at Top 10 is Mike McDonald at #9, who climbed 7 spots. Former world #1, Daniel Negranu retains his #13 spot this week.

Three times WSOP bracelet winner Jeff Madsen moves up 12 spots to his career best #46. Madsen has taken four wins on the live tournament circuit this season including the Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at the 2014 California State Poker Championship earlier this week. Steve Watts moved 43 points up this week to land at #177 and Nicholas Cardyn moves 19 spots to #218.

Dropping the most by 57 spots this week is WSOP and WPT Champion Rocco Palumbo landing at #231. Joining him in taking a tumble this week are, WPT Champions club members David Rheem by 51 spots, Janathan Roy by 41 spots and Jared Jaffee by 36 spots. Rheem ranks #178, Roy #141 and Jaffee #125.
