George Danzer wins the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year title

After a marathon year in World Series of Poker events, George Danzer sealed the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year title in his name. In his journey to win this accolade, the German poker pro cashed in 10 WSOP events this year out of his he made to 5 final table battles winning a whopping $867,649 in cash and 3 glistening WSOP gold bracelets.

Danzer outplayed the American poker pro Brandon Shack-Harris in the ongoing WSOP Asia Pacific to conquer the back-and-forth battle on the WSOP leaderboard. WSOP APAC witnessed a heated contest between the duo resulting the leaderboard pole-position name changed thrice. However, it was the 8th event of WSOP APAC on 12th October wherein Danzer grabbed his 3rd WSOP gold bracelet gaining an invincible lead over Shack-Harris. The race to the POY title climaxed with Shack-Harris busting in 17th spot in the ongoing Main Event while Danzer signed off the tournament after getting eliminated from the last event – AU$25,000 High Roller.

Apart from freezing his name in poker history for this glorious title, Danzer earned himself a $10,000 seat into the 2015 WSOP Main Event and in his honour, a huge banner will be displayed on the walls of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino during each summer.

Talking about the Main Event of WSOP APAC which is underway at the Crown Casino, a fierce battle is going-on to form the final table today. Jason Giuliano of Australia is leading the list of 9 remaining players with 2,380,000 chips on his side. The past 3 days concluded in the main event saw several poker pros like 2013 WSOP Player of the Year Daniel Negreanu, Brandon Shack-Harris with $1,448,716 already in his bag this year, 2012 WSOP Main Event champion Greg Merson and 13-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth falling in the contest. The Final table formed as we were filing this story and sees Jack Salter with 3,550,000 chips in lead. Also on the WSOP APAC Main Event FT are Frank Kassela and Kyle Montgomery.
