jason-moAfter 6 hours of final day battle on Sunday at the Paradise Walkerhill Casino, Jason Mo clinched the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Main Event title with ₩165,590,200 ($151,384). Mo beat the Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang in the heads-up play who took home ₩97,820,000 ($89,413) for the runner-up finish. Top 27 of the 241 runner’s field shared the prize pool of ₩645,205,200.

The final day of APPT 9 Seoul Main Event started with 13 survivors from Day 2 led by Jason Mo in chip count. The first hour of game sent 4 players – Boris Li, Tai Tan, Shintaro Baba, and Junichi Nakagiri to the rail setting up the final table with Poland’s Daniel Demicki in chip lead. However, Mo busted Takuya Suzuki in 9th place very soon to jump to the chip lead position again.

PokerStars Pro Celina Lin’s good run came to an end in 4th place when her pocket tens failed to withstand diamond flush of Demicki on river. Demicki was sent home in 3rd place by Mo which led to the heads-up game.

After a series of raises and re-raises, Mo would make the call and Huang would be all-in for his tournament life. The final hand ran:

Huang: A♦8♣

Mo: A♣Q♣

The board ran 10♦-4♣-K♦-5♣-Q♥ clinching the championship for Mo with a pair of queens.

“Honestly, I just ran really hot.” said the 28-year old American poker pro who was relentlessly aggressive and constantly on the attack. Mo’s win places him at No. 7 on the Asia Player of the Year (APOY) rankings.
