GPI Rankings: Zinno Continues his Reign, while Mercier and Seiver Surge

GPI rankingIn the past week, the WPT Player of the Year and GPI WSOP PoY contender Anthony Zinno became the 10th player, and 6th American, to rank #1 in the GPI World Rankings. This week, again Zinno sits at the top.

On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leaderboard, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.

Anthony Zinno (GPI#1, =) continues with his reign at the top for the second week in the GPI World Poker Rankings. Though he didn’t secure new points in WSOP ME, he is still flying high because of his early performances in 2015 poker season.

This week saw two more Americans – Jason Mercier (GPI#2, +6) and Scott Seiver (GPI#4, +8) taking bigger steps to reach #1 again. Moreover, Paul Volpe (GPI#9, +2) made a return to the GPI Top 10, thanks to his recent performances at the World Series of Poker.

Well-known to spent maximum total weeks in the history of GPI Rankings, Mercier scored points in four events at the World Series of Poker, including the addition of gold bracelet #3 in the 5K NLH Six Handed event, where he battled out UK pro Simon Deadman (GPI#32, -4) in heads-up play. Furthermore, WSOP 2015 was not the best for Seiver though he finished second in the inaugural Super High Roller Bowl.
