2015 ACOP: Kunal Patni Emerges the Chip Leader of the 2m GTD Spadie Day 1A

kunal-patni-macauThe 2015 Asia Championship of Poker is in full swing at the PokerStars LIVE, Macau with the 6th event – 2m GTD Spadie started on Wednesday. 5 events prior to this tournament have crowned its champions since the poker fiesta kicked off on 30th October. The good news for Indian poker community coming from Macau is Kunal Patni finishing the Day 1A of the 2m GTD Spadie as the chip lead with a stack of 154,800 chips.

The tournament started with HK$2,500 Rebuy Championship which Piotr Kania of Poland took down on Day 2. Kania outplayed a field of 117 players to win the Spadie title with HK$167,700 in top prize. 12 players cashed a share of the HK$632,925 prize pool in the opening event of 2015 ACOP. Adda52 Team Spades pro Kunal Patni played this event to defend the title he won last year but, unfortunately he couldn’t repeat the history.

HK$11,000 Deepstack Championship started on Saturday, Oct 31 was played for 2 days to crown Wei Zhou the champion. Zhou an online pro from China took HK$422,400 in the top prize with the Spadie title. After 2 events of Texas Hold’em it was time for some Omaha action on Sunday in the HK$15,000 PLO Championship. This event was also played for 2 days and in the end it was the Taiwanese poker pro Leon Hsu winning the Spadie. Team PokerStars Pro Kosei Ichinose made it to the final table of this event but got eliminates in the 8th place.

Event 4: HK$11,000 6-Max Championship kicked off on Monday, Nov 02 drawing 134 runners which accumulated a prize pool of HK$1,286,802. Joel Micka of USA won this tournament adding HK$353,900 to his live tournament winnings with the prestigious Spadie trophy. On Tuesday 154 players assembled for the Knockout Bounty event which Andrew Shanahan of Australia won for HK$298,662 in the top prize and 10 bounties worth HK$20,000. Kunal Patni played the Bounty event and crossed half the field but got eliminated in 44th place.

The 2 Million guaranteed Spadie event begun with the first flight on Wednesday drawing 244 entrants. After hours of grind, it was Kunal Patni finishing the day as the chip lead. The survivors of Day 1A will return on Friday, Nov 06 for the Day 2 battle. Today, players will again take a shot at this event in the 2nd flight Day 1B.
