Poker Tournaments to Play in Asia-Pacific This January

With new ambitions and bigger plans in 2016 to conquer the poker world, Indian poker players are ready to storm the tournament action in the Asia-Pacific region this January. Thankfully, the poker organizers have laid down back-to-back series this month throwing ample opportunity to the players to kick-start 2016 on a winning note. WPT, APT and APPT are the major poker tours organizing events in Asia-Pacific this month while the Deltin Poker Tournament presented by Adda52 will be the new addition. WPT National Philippines (Jan 02-08)

The first major tournament in this part of the world started today at Solaire Resort and Casino. WPT National Philippines brings 13 events including USD 1,500 + 150 Main Event from 2-8 January 2016. Adding to the excitement will be Cali Cup played as a part of WPT National Philippines which brings $200,000 Triton Super High Roller event. Several pros including Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Fedor Holz, Sam Trickett, Vivek Rajkumar, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates from around the world have announced to play this event. The action will get intense with Malaysian businessmen and players Paul Phua and Richard Yong as well as Lei Tim Meng, CEO of Cali Group joining the action.

A big Indian contingent with the likes Adda52 Team Spades pro Kunal Pati & Amit Jain, Akash Malik, Amit Ajwani, Sameer Rattonsey and Vikram Kumar will be reaching for this WPT tournament.

Macau Millions (Jan 08-18)

Kicking off the tournament action at PokerStars LIVE Macau this year, Macau Millions will host 9 events including $3,000,000 Guaranteed Main Event. A plethora of No Limit Holdem tournaments in variety of formats e.g. MegaStack, Knock-out Bounty, Deepstack, will be played in 11 days of poker fiesta. One PLO event in also on the schedule of Macau Millions on 12th January. Alongside, $9,000 China Poker Championship event will also be played starting on 11th January.

Asian Poker Tour Kickoff 2016 (Jan 13-21)

The 9-day poker series at the APT Poker Room Manila located at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion in Ermita, Manila, Philippines will keep players busy with 19 events in total. Apart from the PHP 55,000 Main Event, all the regular events of APT e.g. Battle of the Nations, Head Hunter, Open Face Chinese Pineapple Shootout 36 Max, Pot Limit Omaha Hi, Monster Stack, Deep Stack Turbo and High Roller will be played during the series. High Roller OFC Pineapple Shootout 12 Max which was introduced in APT Finale 2015 will also be played on 15th January. PHP 55,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Rollers will be the main attraction among the newly added events this season.

Deltin Poker Tournament Presented by Adda52 (Jan 21-26)

Tournament scene got bigger in India this year with the announcement of Deltin Poker Tournament presented by Adda52.  The 6-day poker extravaganza will be held at the Deltin Royale Poker Lounge in Goa. 100K Main Event which guarantees first-ever 1 Crore prize pool in India will be the highlight of this series. Indian poker players will also get to vie in the 5K Warm Up, 10K NLH Hangover, Adda52 25K Deepstack and 15K Adda52 Pros Bounty events. The organizers have announced special bounty of Rs 1 Lac on Adda52 Pros. The Republic Day weekend is expected to draw huge field in the DPT events as it is the first tournament in India in 2016.

Aussie Millions (Jan 13-Feb 01)

The biggest and the most prestigious poker tournament of Asia Pacific, Aussie Millions will bring 24 events in 20 days of poker action at Crown Casino in Melbourne. AUD$10,600 Main Event, part of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), starting 24th January will be under the poker spotlights as it guarantees AUD$1.6 million dollar first prize. AUD$25,000 Challenge, AUD$100,000 Challenge regarded as the High Roller event and LK Boutique – AUD$250,000 Challenge will be among the big buy-in events of this tournament. Aussie Millions will also host AUD$2,500 H.O.R.S.E and 4 PLO events to cater to the poker appetite of players who love variants other than NLH.

The Twitch sensation and PokerStars pro Jason Somerville will add to the excitement of Aussie Millions this year by streaming his game on Twitch.
