The first poker tournament of 2016 in Goa kicked off on Thursday with the 5K Warm Up event at the Deltin Royale Casino. Deltin Poker Tournament Presented by Adda52 brought Rs 5 Lac in guaranteed prize pool in the inaugural event which was well exceeded with 157 entries. After 9 hours of tournament action across 20 levels of game, it was Sekhar from Bangalore winning the event trophy with Rs 160,000 in top prize.
From renowned pros of the industry to mid-level players as well as amateurs, the inaugural event drew a good mix of poker enthusiasts from different corners of the country. Adda52 pros Kunal Patni, Madan Kumar & Aditya Sushant, Pranav Bagai, Jaideep Sazwan, Shravan Chhabria, Dhaval Mudgal, Jasevn Saigal were among the notable name seen at the felt on Thursday evening.
18 places were announced to be paid in the tournament and the low buy-in event paced up quickly in its first 10 levels. The field was down to 33 players lead by Sekhar (96,900) at the end of Level 10. It took another 3 levels for 18 players to get in the money. Shravan Chabria was the first to get eliminated with the min-cash Rs 8,000 in 18th place. Rishabh Gupta picks up the lead position when the game reached its final table of 9 players.

The organizers had announced Rs 10,000 for the last lady standing in the tournament which Sheena Sareen won finishing 23rd. Leo Cecil was the first elimination on the final table in 9th place for Rs 14,000. Rishabh who started as the chip leas on final table ended up in 4th place bagging Rs 50,500. In the last hand which Rishabh played, Shekhar went all-in preflop with sK, d1 and Rishabh called called showing cK,hQ. The community d3,c1,c8,s8,c4 gave Shekhar 2 pairs to win the pot. This hands rocketed Shekhar to the top of reaming 3 players.
In the final hand, Shekhar went all-in and got a snap call from Alexey. At the showdown:

Alexey hit a pair and picked up a straight draw on flop c1,sQ,s10 but with h8 on turn and sJ on the river, Shekhar took down the pot as well the trophy. “Feeling good..! Final table was challenging. Didn’t wanted to chop, doesn’t matter whatever place I could have ended up but I did it finally”, said Sekhar excited on his first tournament in Goa.
