Paawan Bansal off to a good start in WPT Vinenna; Main Event Starts Today

In the on-going PartyPoker World Poker Tour (WPT) Vienna, the newly appointed PokerBaazi pro Paawan Bansal places runner-up in the Event #2: €220 No-Limit Hold’em Late Night Turbo. James Akenhead of England won the Warm-Up event for €65,000 beating a field of 1,157 runners. The €3,000 Main event begins today at the Montesino Pokertainment Centre, Vienna and will be played in 2 flight days and 4 more days of battle.

Paawan is on his first international tournament outing as a sponsored pro of PokerBaazi and will be playing the Main Event. After finishing 2nd in the Event #2 he posted on Social Media:

In the $200K GTD Warm-Up event, 1,157 entries in 4 starting flights generated a prize pool of €347,100. James Akenhead who has $3,296,094 in live tournament winnings took down the title with €65,000 in top prize. He beat the German player Oliver Baude heads up to clinch this victory.

The nine-handed final table started with Akenhead as the chip leader and also with the British star as the most experienced player of the finalists. Within the first six hands at the final table, four players as in Christoph Zobl, Martin Toncev, Jozef Faber, and Milos Zerzevski got busted. Afterwards, the game slowed down a little and the heads up lasted for almost 3 hours. In the 198th hand of the final table, with blinds of 100,000/200,000, Baude moved all-in for 4,475,000 chips, and Akenhead eventually called.
