Back in May 2017, WPT announced the Asia-Pacific expansion in partnership with India’s largest poker site-Adda52.com, with its first-ever WPTDeepStacks India which is scheduled to take place from November 7-13 this year with a $1,000 Main Event at the luxurious Deltin Royale Casino in Goa, India.
To the delight of the poker players, WPTDeepStacks coming to India for the first time will qualify players for the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year Leaderboard, which will award the top player with a massive $15,000 package to be used for any WPT Main Tour, WPTDeepStacks™, or WPT500™ events in the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year along with the coveted $15,000 package will be provided with complimentary accommodations and ground transportation for the events by WPT. The player who finishes as runner-up on the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year Leaderboard will receive a $3,500 buy-in to the Season XVII WPT Beijing Main Event, and the 3rd place finisher will earn one WPTDeepStacks Main Event buy-in and one WPT500 buy-in for WPT events in the Asia-Pacific region. Here are the three eligible events to earn WPT Asia-Pacific POY title:
- April 15-19, 2017: WPT Beijing
- November 23-26, 2017: WPT Japan
- November 7-13, 2017: WPT India
As clearly mentioned above, the WPT India will be one of the three key events to compete in the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year leaderboard and earn the coveted WPT Asia-Pacific POY title.
WPT India Player of the Year Award
Yet another good news for Indian poker community, WPT has already announced the WPT India Player of the Year Leaderboard, which will award the top finisher a $5,000 buy-in credit for WPT events and designated Deltin events during Season XVII of the World Poker Tour. WPT India Player of the Year Leaderboard points will be based on the finishing position, buy-in amount, and number of entrants in the tournament.
Below are the three events which will qualify players for the WPT India Player of the Year Award:
- July 20-24, 2017: Deltin Poker Tour Goa $540 Main Event
- September 6-11, 2017:Deltin Poker Tour Goa $540 Main Event
- November 7-13, 2017:WPTDeepStacks India $1,000 Main Event
