A big news for poker enthusiasts from across the world! The Social video service Twitch and Poker Central, the ultimate platform for poker tournaments, cash games, and lifestyle, announced that World Series of Poker (WSOP) will air on Twitch. Starting June 2, Twitch will start airing live coverage of the WSOP events. Viewers will be able to catch the action live as the best poker minds compete for the WSOP gold bracelet. The action will air on twitch.tv/pokercentral and run till July 14.
“The Twitch community thrives on interacting with the best players and witnessing the best plays in poker,” said Farhan Ahmed, head of poker partnerships at Twitch. “Since poker has continued to grow significantly as a content category on Twitch and the World Series of Poker represents one of the top levels of competition the sport has to offer, it’s exciting to bring it to our passionate poker fanbase.”
“Year after year, our goal is to provide the highest quality poker content to as large an audience possible,” said Sam Simmons, vice president of content at Poker Central. Talking about their association with Twitch, Simmons said, “To that end, we’re proud to work with Twitch to produce and distribute additional coverage of the WSOP – the preeminent tournament series in all of poker.”
The lead commentator for the events will be David Tuchman with support from Jeff Platt. In addition, the WSOP broadcasts will feature visits from poker pros and celebrities, who will be answering questions from chat and discussing the action with poker fans from across the world.
