The 2019 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Horseshoe Tunica $1,700 main event drew 639 entries, building a $968,085 prizepool. The player to emerge winner was Kyle Cartwright, who earned $198,451 and his 8th WSOPC ring. This was Cartwright’s 4th WSOPC main event title. The 2014 WSOP bracelet winner has now taken his live tournament earnings to over $2 million.
Cartwright entered the final day as third in chips with 8 players remaining. He scored his first elimination by calling the all-in of Damjan Radanov with Ac 9c. Radanov who held Ah 6d couldn’t improve and Cartwright’s superior kicker earned him the pot, eliminating Radanov in sixth place.
From there, there was no looking back for Cartwirght who went on to take the chip lead during the three-handed play where he won a huge pot against Johnny Landreth. After the flop reading 10s 9h 8s, Landreth shoved all-in for his remaining 3,900,000. Cartwright snap-called with 8h 8c for a set and Landreth, who held Qh 10h, failed to make a straight as the turn and river brought Ac and 2d. Landreth exited the event in third place, taking home a good $90,071 for his efforts.
Cartwright took a 2-to-1 lead to move into heads-up with Steve Klein. Klein got a good start, but could not maintain his momentum. On the final hand, it was a pre-flop all-in with Cartwright holding As 10h and Kelin having 4h 4d. The board ran Qc Jh 5c 8d 10s to give Cartwright the pot as well as the coveted title. Klein took home an impressive $122,802 for his runner-up finish.
