Hailing from Gurgoan, Gaurav Sood has been running hot this year. He has won online tournaments on almost all major poker sites in India. However, his biggest hunting ground has been Adda52.com where he has already shipped several events and some of them include Adda52 Millions, Mega Suits and Victor Leaderbaord SNG. Overall, he has been doing pretty well and has built a solid bankroll.
Currently, the player along with several other Indians, is taking part in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) series in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam where the Championships Event is underway after the Main Event crowned a winner in Zhou Jiaping a couple of days ago. Running alongside the Championship event, there are several side events taking place. One of the side events was Event 11: VND 9,900,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi where India’s Sood decided to compete in and eventually ended as a runner-up.
53 entries were registered and this generated a VND 462,690,000 prizepool. The largest share of the prizepool went to the eventual winner Hiruma Shinosuke from Japan. He reached heads-up with Sood who had entered the FT as the chip leader and kept his lead until the heads-up where he could not go all the way and eventually finished runner-up for a good VND 110,000,000 (INR 3.25 Lac).
We caught up with Sood and he said, “The field was soft and I had a decent stack from the middle stages to the end of it. I made use of the bubble stage and chipped up nicely. I went into the final table with the CL and remained CL throughout until the heads up where it was 17bb and 22bb, it took one flip to end it all, it was disheartening not to get the trophy but definitely happy with the way I played.”
