Monday marked the start of the two-day Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB) Online finale on partypoker. Featuring $102,000 buy-in, the prestigious event hosted online for the first time drew a 50-player field to smash its $3 million guarantee and generate $5 Million in prizepool. This made it the fourth largest event in the SHRB history! As usual, the marquee super high roller event drew the best high-stakes players in the business, including the American poker phenom Justin Bonomo who eventually went on to ship it for a mouth-watering $1,775,000 in top prize, becoming the only player to win three SHRB titles.
Bonomo’s first two SHRB titles came in 2018. He beat out 75 entries to win the SHRB China for $4,823,077 and two months later topped the 48-entry field to win the SHRB event in Las Vegas for $5,000,000.
Start-of-day chip leader Ali Imsirovic finished just short of the seven-handed final table in ninth place, with Orpen Kisacikoglu bubbling the FT in eighth after running ace-king into the kings of Addamo.
When the final table of the event began, Bonomo had five players in front of him including the likes of Sam Greenwood, David Peters, and chip leader Pauli Ayras. The first elimination from the final table came in Greenwood who was eliminated by Dan Shak in seventh place. It took another 45 minutes before another player got busted. Ayras sent Linus Lloeliger to the rail in sixth. Around 20 minutes after that, the eventual champion Bonomo busted Shak in fifth place. Later, Addamo took the role of an eliminator and went to bust Ayras and Peters in fourth and third places to eventually enter the heads-up with Bonomo.
The heads-up play began with Addamo holding the chip lead with 9,706,459, while Bonomo held 5,293,541 in chips. The heads-up was a captivating and long affair as it witnessed highest level of poker. An early double for Bonomo flipped the chip counts but the 2020 winner of the Australian Poker Hall of Fame ‘Young Achiever Award’ – Addamo was never out of contention with multiple doubles throughout the dual. Eventually, it all ended with Bonomo winning the coveted title for a whopping $1,775,000 .
The last hand saw Addamo with Qc Qs and Bonomo with Kh 5d. The board ran out Kd 10h 3h Kc 3d, giving the title to Bonomo. Addamo banked $1,187,500 as runner-up in the very first SHRB online.
