Blazing Start For AOPS; Ashish Ahuja Wins The Biggest Tourney BigStack Turbo On Day 1

Cards are flying high in the virtual arena with the Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS) Special Edition underway on Monday, June 8. The flagship series will run until July 5. Plenty of money can be won over the next few weeks with an ambitious INR 22 Crores in guarantees. A total of 9 events have been completed with many more lined up. Opening day attracted a total of 3207 entries and paid out over INR 46.46 Lac in prizes. The biggest winner of the day was the lawyer-turned poker pro Ashish Ahuja aka who shipped the 20 Lac GTD AOPS BigStack Turbo to bank INR 3.87 Lac payday.

Day 1 of the series saw a total of 9 winners. Let us dive into the results from the opening day:

20 Lac GTD AOPS BigStack Turbo 

The special edition of the AOPS could not have started any better for Ashish Ahuja aka’rocky3705’. The online poker phenom topped a field of 508 entries in the AOPS Big Stack Turbo and walked away with INR 3,87,725 in top prize, following a heads-up deal with online MTT crusher Anant Purohit aka ‘Pro_baba’ (runner-up for INR 3,84,435). The bottom spot on the podium went to Shardul Parthasarathi (3rd for INR 1,93,040), while Goonjan Mall finished 4th for INR 1,52,400.

The tournament did well to beat its specified guarantee and create INR 20.32 Lac via 508 entries.

Top 55 places were paid from the prizepool, with Manish Lakhotia (11th), Sriharsha Doddapaneni (11th), Neeraj Kumar (12th), Smita Agarwalla (20th), Ujjwal Narwal (21st), Kartik Ved (22nd), Arjanveer Singh Chadha (26th), Myron Pereira (30th), Sahil Mahboobani (32nd), Rajat Sharma (38th), Arsh Grover (44th), and recent Godfather winner Alok Birewar (46th) being prominent ITM finishers among them.

6 Lac GTD AOPS Table for 6

The second biggest event on the opening day of the AOPS was the AOPS Table for 6 featuring INR 2750 buy-in. The tourney wrapped up with a grand success, pulling in an impressive 343 entries to beat its guarantee and generate INR 8.57 Lac in prizepool that was shared by top 34 finishers.

Coming out on top of the field was online regular Ravindra Arikeri aka ‘wormhole’ who pocketed INR 2,14,375 after outlasting ‘violator’ (runner-up for INR 1,29,911) in the heads-up. Myron Pereira (5th for INR 49306) and Aman Parakh (7th for INR 25725) were the prominent FT finishers.

4 Lac GTD APS Brunch

Another major tourney on the slate was the 4 Lac GTD AOPS Brunch. The second tourney on Day 1 kicking off at 2pm did well, registering a total of 360 entries and resulting in INR 4.05 Lac prizepool.

Top 34 places wee paid in this INR 1250 buy-in tourney and it was ‘Hell12’ who emerged the winner after defeating ‘akb786’ (runner-up for INR 65,813) to claim the top prize of INR 1,12,590 prize.

Six Other Winners

The 3 Lac GTD AOPS Siesta generated INR 3.05 Lac prizepool via 305 entries. ‘Ashishmunka’ shipped it after defeating ‘MrGTO’ (runner-up for INR 46,208) to bank INR 76,250. Naresh Rathnam (5th for INR 17538) and Utkarsh Srivastava (8th for INR 7625) were notable final table finishers.

Circuit reg Rishi Mundhra aka ‘ronaldo94’ won the 2.5 Lac GTD AOPS Dusk that drew a total of 276 entries to generate INR 2.76 Lac prizepool. Mundhra knocked out ‘pahwa_p’ in heads-up and banked INR 70,656 in first-place prize money, while the latter walked away with INR 42,090 for his efforts.

The four other players who won AOPS titles on the opening day of the series were ‘yadava28’ (won the 2.5 Lac GTD AOPS Afterparty PLO for INR 75,600), Dinesh Singh aka ‘LOOSER_MM’ (won the 1.5 Lac GTD AOPS Wake-Up Call for INR 47,850), ‘ali33’ (won the 1 Lac GTD AOPS Byte for INR 38,808) and ‘Happysting’ who shipped the 1 Lac GTD AOPS Punch and banked INR 29,118 for his victory.
