ED raids Big Daddy Casino owner Gopal Kanda’s premises

Days after being acquitted in Geetika Sharma suicide case, Gopal Kanda is facing actions from the law enforcement agency over money laundering charges. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has carried out raids at his residence and premises linked to defunct MDLR Airlines, a Gurgaon-based (now Gurugram) airline company which ceased its operations way back in November 2009.

Reportedly, the raids started in the morning yesterday at his residence and his office in Gurugram.

Kanda was previously interrogated after he was acquitted in Geetika Sharma suicide case. Following which, ED raided multiple locations in Haryana and he is still being investigated in the said matter.

Apart from owning Big Dady Casino in Goa, Kanda has been an active part of Haryana’s politics. Previously, he owned Casino Rio, which ran into licensing issues. While he tried to keep his record clean, controversies seem to follow him everywhere. His Big Daddy Casino made big headlines when its name came up to have associated with the infamous casino organizer Chikoti Praveen.

Big Daddy Casino, however, has denied any links with Praveen, who is currently under investigation by the ED on similar charges of PMLA and is also surrounded by controversies like organizing illegal casino activities. The authorities also booked him for carrying out unauthorized demonstrations.
