First Season of Poker Sports League Ends with Delhi Panthers Winning ‘Best Team in India’ Title

The inaugural season of the Poker Sports League is in the books now. The 5-day tournament series concluded yesterday with massive action at Deltin Royale Goa. A total of 12 top teams from the country took to the felts in this league in India to battle it out for the whopping INR 3.36 crores in the prize pool guarantee. Eventually, Delhi Panthers mentored by Akash Malik emerged the champion of the opening PSL , winning a whopping INR 1.5 cores in the top prize money along with the beautiful PSL trophy. Amit Jain’s Mumbai Anchors got 2nd place and won INR 1 crore in for their runner-up finish. Kolkata Royals led by Romit Advani came 3rd and won INR 50 Lacs for their 3rd place finish. It has been great series for Delhi Panthers, which comprised of a perfect blend of youth and experienced.  This team really played like a unit and everyone played to their potential. Superb show by the mentor Akash Malik who came out with some brilliant performances in the series to help his team have an edge over others. Akash Malik, Aman Dhamija, Vinod Megalmani and entire team Delhi were the real rock-stars who fought well with the opposition and finally took down the coveted title for their team.

Mumbai Anchors which led the 4th day of Poker Sports League looked like the real contender for the championship title. But not bad at all, this team still managed to finish runner-up. The mentor Amit Jain of Mumbai Anchors played a key role helping his team grab the 2nd spot. On day 3 of the Poker Sports League, he won the main event to take his team to the 2nd place with 439800 points, just behind of Abhishek Goindi’s Punjab Bluffers which topped Day 3 PSL Leaderboard. Another player who played a key role for Mumbai was the Wild Card Danish Sheikh. He finished 6th in main event for 49800 PSLPs. He also shipped the turbo event. Among other players,Kartik Ved and Honey Bijalni came out strongly and won the Heads-up events for the team. Overall, it had been a brilliant show by the Mumbai team.

The final day was a great time for Kolkata Royals which held 4th place on the Day 4 PSL leaderboard with a total of 523800 points. The Royals came out with some superb performances. Naman Khettry & Kunal Sharma of Kolkata Royals won the Day 4 Teams Event, scoring some big points for their team. Naman Khettry of Kolkata Royals also won the Day 1 Heads-up Texas Holdem to take his team to 9th place on opening day PSL Table. Kolkata pro- Mayank Agarwal finished 3rd in the Day 3 main event and scored a few big points for his team. Mayank Agarwal and Kunal Sharma won Teams Event for their team. Arjun Singh also had a great show on Day 3, as he finished 2nd in Day 3 Turbo event. Overall, a great show by Kolkata Royals, especially by the pro- Mayank Agarwal and Naman Khettry!

Talking about Punjab Bluffers mentored by Abhishek Goindi, this team has been in good form all across the series. A crucial role was played Goindi himself who won many crucial events and finally helped to finish in 4th place. Other players who came out with notable performances include Sumit Sapra who finished 3rd on Day 1 Turbo. There were some big scores by Akira Ohyama who finished 5th on Day 1 Main Event to take his team to 3rd place. Up next, he scored another win to earn some big points for his team. Vineet Kumar also had a good show and he came 4th in day 3 turbo event. Overall, a wonderful series for Bluffers who played really well as team in the series!
