Madhav Gupta Wins WPT India 2019 20K Megastack For INR 5,33,990!

Level 25 (Blinds 40k-80k & Ante 80k)

Madhav Gupta has emerged as the latest champion of the WPT India Megastack NLH event. He bested a field of 88 entries to claim his first WPT title for  INR 5,33,990.  In heads-up, he faced Amit Dhall who played well but could not go all the way, eventually finishing runner-up for INR 3,22,880 prize money.

On the last hand of the tournament, Amit Dhall from SB completed the blind and Madhav Gupta checked.  The flop 10h 3s Ks saw Amit Dhall  shoving all-in for around 700k with 7c 7h and Madhav called and tabled 10s 3c for two flopped pair.
Th turn and river came Jx and 3h, improving Madhav Gupta to a full house and he won the coveted pot as well as his first WPT  title for INR 5,33,990 in first-place prizemoney. Amit Dhall settled for INR 3,22,880 as second place prizemoney.

Madhav Gupta continues his momentum. A while back, he busted Ankit Jajodia and now he has scored another elimination. This time, he busted none other than Somashekar who has been running hot at the final table.

In this hand, Madhav Gupta from SB completed the blind and Somashekar from BB shoved all-in for 300k, which Madhav called.

Ankit Jajodia pitted his Ah 3h against  Ad Js of Madhav Gupta.  The board ran 4d Qs Jh Kh 2s where Maddy flopped a pair of jacks to win the pot and bust Jajodia.
Saurabh Arora Exits in 5th Place for INR 1,03,500

It was a pre-flop action where Madhav Gupta from UTG open shoved for 405k and Saurabh Arora called for his touranemnt life and tabled Jd Jh against As 5h.

The board ran out 10h Ah Xx Ad 3d where Arora’s pocket jacks could not hold up, while Gupta made trip with Aces to take down the pot and bust Arora.

Maria Kirloskar Finishes 6th for INR 82,800

Somashekar continues his hot run and a while back, he busted popular female pro Maria Kirloskar who shoved all-in 30k and Somashekar called with Kc 6h. Maria turned over Qs Jc and she needed to hit to stay alive.
The board came down Ac 3c 9h As 6d where Somashekar made two pairs with Aces and sixes to take down the pot and bust Maria form the tournament.

Gokul Krishna Finishes 7th for INR 68,710

Level 19 (Blinds 8k-16k & Ante 16k)
Somashekar scores another elimination and this time his victim is Naveen Sagar. In this hand, Gokul holding Ah 7x shoved all-in for 67k and Somashekar from the big blind called and tabled 4s 9d.
Gokul need to hit to stay alive and the board came Qd 6d Jc 4h 9d where Somashekar made two pairs to win the pot and bust Gokul in 7th place.

Naveen Sagar Exits in 8th for INR 57,950

Somashekar is on fire! A while back, he busted Samit Mehta and now he has scored another elimination. He raised  42k and Naveen Sagar shoved all-in for 220k holding Ad 10s and Somashekar called all-in and turned over Qh Js.

The board ran out Qd Kd 10d 6c 4c where Somashekar paired his queen and it was good to take down the pot and bust Naveen in 8th place.

 

Samit Mehta Finishes 9th for INR 53,400

It was a pre-flop action where Somashekar raised to 36k and Samit Mehta shoved all-in for 333k. Somashekar called all-in and tabled Ad Qh against Ac Ks of Mehta.
The board ran out Jd 3d 6h Qs 2s where Somashekar paired his queen on the turn to take down the pot and bust Mehta from the tournament.

With Kiran Kumar going out in 10th place, we are down to the 9-handed final table, which includes Madhav aka ‘Maddy’ Gupta, Amit Dhall, Ankit Jajodia, Somashekar, Saurabh Arora, Maria Kirloskar, Gokul Krishna, Samit Mehta and Naveen Sagar.

 

Kiran Kumar Finishes 10th for INR 49,680

Eliminations are happening quickly and recently we saw Kiran Kumar exiting in 10th place. He went all-in for 75k from MP1 and Saurabh Arora from button called with 10h Jd. Kumar turned over 7s 7h and he needed to hold up.

The board ran Qd As Js 5d 9h where pocket sevens could not hold up as Arora flopped a jack pair to win the pot and bust Kumar from the tournament.

 

Sanchit Pande Finishes 11th for INR 46,400
Level 18 (6k-12k & Ante 12k)

Pre-flop, Somashekar from the small blind raised to 55k and Sanchit Pande from BB shoved all-in for 125k. Somashekar made a snap call and turn over Kc 10h against 9d JS of Pande. The board opened 8d 8d 10c 10d 6s, giving
Somashekar a full house to to win the pot and bust Sanchit in 11th place.

Gangadar Raj Bubbles 20k Megastack!

Pre-flop, S. Arora from UTG raises to 30k and Gangadar Raj shoves all-in for 60k.
Arora calls and tables 9c 9h, while Raj turns over Kd Qs and he needs to hit to stay alive.

The board runs Jh 3h 5d 4s 3c where pocket nines hold up for Arora to win him the pot and bust Raj.

Unfortunately for Raj, he goes out on the money bubble!

A player from UTG opened, Minissha Lamba shoved all-in for 15k and Siddarth Singhvi called from SB with Qd Qs.

With four diamonds falling on the board, Singhvi made a flush to win the pot and bust Lamba.

Good afternoon and welcome back to Deltin Royale in Sunny Goa. Now it is time for the final event of the WPT India 2019 – 20k buy-in Megastack. The event has kicked off at 3pm with blinds 100-100 and ante 0. Each level for the event will be of 20 minutes, while late registration will remain open until the start of level 9. Last year, it was New Delhi-based pro Siddarth Singhvi who won this event for INR  5.71 Lac after besting a field of 99 entries. Now the battle for the title begins again. Stay tuned!
