The 24th and 25th Gold Bracelets of the 2014 WSOP were won by Kevin Eyster and John Kabbaj as they triumphed in $5000 NLHE Six Handed and $2500 Omaha 8/Stud 8 event respectively. While it was Eyster’s first bracelet Kabbaj tasted the WSOP success a second time in his poker career.
Event 24: $5000 NLHE Six Handed
Kevin Eyster booked the biggest victory of his seven year poker career when he defeated Pierre Neuville for the top prize of $622,978 in Event 24. He prevailed over 541 entrants to win his first bracelet. The six handed final table also saw Bryn Kenney and Jeremy Kotler both of whom were making their third WSOP final table.
Eyster who has a circuit ring to his credit entered the final table in chip lead. While he managed to survive the first two days with healthy stacks, entring the FT, he lost his chip lead to Neuville. It was during heads up play that Eyster pressed the aggrressive mode and dried out his competitor. The heads up heat was so much that a fourth day had to be added to finish the tourney and crown a champion.
The top 60 finishers in the event each earned a payout Notable players who made the money included Bertrand Grospellier (51st), Freddy Deeb (33rd), Mattt Salsberg (31st), Greg Merson (13th), Amanda Musumeci (12th), and Matt Jarvis (9th).

Event 25: $2500 Omaha 8/Stud 8 event:
John Kabbaj of the UK who has recently moved to Austria after hitting tough times had something to cheer about when he won his career second bracelet by taking down event 25. He defeated Thomas Keller to win the top prize of $267,327. He also managed to overcome the tough final table which had five former bracelet holders. Heavyweights like Erik Seidel, Tom Schenider and Mike Leah were amongst the talented nine who were vying for this title.
The event saw 480 runners and the top 48 made it past the money. Notable poker players including George Danzer (39th), John D’Agostino (35th), Mike Matusow (19th), Matt Glantz (18th), Owais Ahmed (15th), and Allyn Jaffrey Shulman (14th) were ITM.
