MPC22: Yuguang Li Slays The Red Dragon, Indians continue to cash

Red Dragon Main Event title of MPC22 was clinched by China’s Yuguang Li at PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room yesterday. After 4 flights and 3 days of main event battle, this Chinese businessman outplayed the huge field of 987 players to take home the coveted trophy with the top prize of HK $1,848,000.

The final table started with Yunye Lu in the chip lead which he capitalized on to reach the heads-up against the champion Yuguang Li. Chinese dominated the Final Table of the 7th Red Dargon event of Macau Poker Cup with 6 players vying for the title. Everybody on the table seemed to be in hurry except these two gentlemen which resulted in 6 eliminations before the first break of the day. Hong Kong based businessman, David Steicke was the first to hit the rails. Xiaodong Lin of China quickly joined him at the rails getting eliminated in 8th place. The next hour of play saw two more elimination in the form of – Fan Xu and Eileen Fengijao Wang in 7th and 6th place respectively.

The champion Li had only 3 money-finishes prior to this Red Dragon event, $12,421 being the biggest at 2014 APPT Asia Championship of Poker. After 3 more elimination, he was up against Lu and both decided to strike a deal leaving HK $150,000 and the title on the table to vie for. It was Li in the end clinching the 7th Red Dragon title as he hit two pair with cK,h2 in pocket when Lu was caught bluffing with cQ,h9 with d5,dK,c3,c2,d7 on the board.

“When we reached heads-up, I felt that I was going to win because I play a lot of heads-up online,” Li said after the victory.

Team India at MPC22

India’s main event campaign came to an end with Team Spades pros Kunal Patni, Aditya Sushant and  Kavish Kukreja finishing in 41st, 62nd and 66th place on Day 3.

Rajeev Raut who had already bagged two money-finishes in the MPC22 kept the action going in the HK $20,000 NLH event alongwith Kavish Kukreja and the Team Spades pro Amit Jain. The 3-day event which started on Thursday attracted 237 runners creating a prize pool of $4,138,020 which is more the the 4-times of the guaranteed amount. While Kavish busted on Day 1 itself, Rajeev and Amit cruise to Day 2 with Amit in top 5 stacks. In the Day 2 battle yesterday, Amit got eliminated before reaching the Top 27 list which was to be paid. Rajeev  bagged his 3rd cash in the MPC22 by taking 27th place with HKD 33,100.
