2019 European Poker Tour (EPT) Sochi Main Event is currently underway. This year’s Main Event witnessed an impressive turnout with 758 entries, slightly falling short of last year’s mark of 861.
The Main Event drew 692 across its 3 starting flights. However, the organizers ran a bonus satellite, which helped the overall field reach 758 mark. Day 2 of the event began with 306 runners with Russia’s Aleksandr Denisov (498,600) leading them all. The day ended with only 100 left. Denisov continued his dominance and once again emerged as the chip leader with 1,017,000 chips.
A total of five Indians entered Day 2 – Sriharsha Doddapaneni (128,500), Anant Purohit (79,000), Jayjit Ray (76,500), Aditya Sushant (53,300) and Kartik Ved (19,700). Only Doddapaneni survived and made it to Day 3 among the final 100. He bagged a decent stack of 214,000. He now sits at 37th position in chips. He is assured at least RUB 364k (INR 3.89 Lac) if he gets busted today on Day 3.
Doddapaneni is a very talented poker player from India. 2018 has been a big year for the player as he won several big tournaments, including 200K NLH DPT Super High Roller at the DPT Colossus Super High Roller Series in April (INR 28.70 Lac) and Adda52 Big Millions 2.0 in May ( INR 25.5 Lac). Most recently, he notched up a 9th place finish in the 2019 APPT High Roller Shot Clock & BB Ante.
Day 3 starts later today. While the chip leader Aleksandr Denisov (1,017,000) has a good chance to ship the event, it will not be an easy battle as there are a lot of notables still there in the field, including big stacks – Mikhail Aleksandrov (942,000) and Vadim Baranov (865,000), Sergey Chantsev (645,000), Maksim Pisarenko (547,000), Ezequiel Waigel (519,000), Viktor Ustimov (505,000), Anatolii Zyrin (294,000), Matous Houzvicek(276,000) and defending champion Arseniy Karmatskiy (78,000).
While everyone among the final 100 is guaranteed at least 364K RUB, they will have their eyes on the first place prize of 27,475,000 RUB (INR 2.94 Crores). Keep following Online Poker News for updates!
