AOPS Day 1: Naresh Veeravalli Wins Godfather; Deepak Singh Takes Down Big PLO!

The day we all were waiting for finally arrived yesterday. The much-awaited Adda52 Online Poker Series (AOPS) that boasts a mind-boggling INR 7 Crore GTD prizepool and 15 Lac in leaderboard prizes kicked off yesterday. The 60-event series got off to a flying start with all 6 tournaments on the Day 1 schedule wrapping up with a grand success and crushing their respective guarantees. More than 2300 entries were registered and INR 71+ Lac given away in total prizepools. While the opening day saw a total of 6 winners, the biggest winner to emerge was Naresh ‘emperor457’ Veeravalli, who shipped the 30 Lac GTD AOPS Godfather for INR 10.30 Lac. 30 Lac GTD AOPS Godfather

The biggest-guarantee tournament on yesterday’s AOPS schedule was the 30 Lac GTD Godfather sporting a buy-in of INR 5.5k. Kicking off at 8pm last night, the flagship tournament enjoyed a phenomenal run, drawing a total of 896 entries and generating a massive INR 44.80 Lac prizepool, which was shared by top 92 finishers. In the end, the lion’s share of the prizepool went to a notable reg Naresh Veeravalli aka ‘emperor457’ who eventually defeated Ashish Ahuja aka ‘rocky3705’ (runner-up for INR 5,91,360) in heads-up to take down the marquee event for INR 10.30 Lac.

Veeravalli is a well-known online regular and his poker journey has been amazing. While the online grinder has already won several events on Adda52 (including Whale-6 Max and Adda52 Millions), he has been enjoying a spectacular run these past few days and had ended the March month in style by shipping Adda52 Millions AF and Hexagram. And what a start to April as he won Godfather last night!

7.5 Lac GTD AOPS Big PLO

The second biggest AOPS event yesterday was the 7.5 Lac GTD AOPS Big PLO featuring INR 7500 buy-in. Kicking off at 9:30 PM, this PLO tourney drew an impressive 143 entries to comfortably crush its specified guarantee and take the prizepool to INR 9.75 Lac, which got distributed among the top 15. Coming out on top was well-known reg in Deepak Singh aka ‘Peacelover’ who defeated Vishal Kumar aka ‘vishalkumar1270’ in heads-up to bank INR 2.63 Lac. Kumar earned INR 1.65 Lac for his deep run.

5 Lac GTD AOPS Falcon

Another big event on the AOPS schedule yesterday was the 5 Lac GTD AOPS Falcon sporting INR 2700 buy-in. The tournament crowned a winner in ‘DangerDaddy’ who outlasted a field of 271 entries, including Dhaval Doshi in heads-up to earn the top prize of INR 1,40,920. Doshi settled for INR 84,010 for his runner-up finish. Top 27 players were paid from INR 6.77 Lac prizepool and among them Akshat Dwivedi (5th for INR 31,165), Avneesh Munjal (6th for INR 23,035) and Amit Sur (8th for INR 13550) were notable players who made deep finishes in the tournament.

Other Winners From AOPS Day 1

Day 1 of the AOPS kicked off with a 3 Lac GTD Warm-Up that logged in a total of 468 entries to generate INR 5.32 Lac prizepoool. In the end, it was ‘samiksett’ who came out on top of the field to bank INR 1.30 Lac prize. He outlasted ‘hemantbh’ in heads-up who walked away with INR 77,225.

Another AOPS event was the 1.5 Lac GTD AOPS Fiesta that found a winner in ‘FearCheema’ who earned INR 60K, after outlasting a field of 243 entries, including ‘poketacesaa’ (runner-up for INR 34,992). Siddarth Singhvi (5th) and Mihir Thakkar (9th) were among the notable deep finishers.

Day 1 of the series concluded with the AOPS 11th HR PKO 1.5 Lac GTD, which saw a total field of 303 entries. Taking the top honors was ‘kvy13’ who clashed with the last night’s AOPS Godfather winner Naresh ‘emperor457’ Veeravalli (runner-up for INR 36,966) and eventually won it for INR 62,000.
