Team India has been making a huge splash at the 2022 Asian Poker Tour (APT) Summer Festival Hanoi – VSOP (Vietnam Series Of Poker). The team has already won four trophies at the ongoing series and came close to winning its fifth trophy yesterday with Amit Kaushik narrowly missing out on his second title in the series. Fresh off his victory in Event 18: Deep Stack Hyper Turbo, the DPT April 2022 15K Bounty winner was in hunt for his second APT title in Event 19: Super Deep Stack Turbo yesterday. Unfortunately, he exited in third place after his Ah 4d losing to Nguyen’s Jc 10s on a 9-K-5-Q-5 board. Kaushik walked away with an impressive VND 50,600,000 for his third-place finish.
After busting Kaushik in third place, Nguyen entered the heads-up with a 10:1 chip advantage over Korea’s Jaewook Han, who was quickly eliminated in second place. Nguyen earned the trophy and the VND 109,200,000 first prize, while Jaewook banked VND 72,790,000 for his runner-up finish.
After the High Roller champion Tran Nam Trung departing in sixth place, it looked like a shove fest with average stack being below 9BB. Vu Van Lich was eliminated by Quach Chi Cong to take the chip lead. Despite scoring the elimination, the next to fall was Cong who paid two back to back double ups to Nguyen. Cong was finally busted in fourth by Nguyen, who took a massive chip lead into the three-handed play and then went on to eliminate both of his remaining opponents to win the title.
The second installment of the Super Deep Stack Turbo drew a larger turnout of 65 entrants and generated VND 378,300,000 (~US$ 16,130) in prizepool that was shared by the top 11 finishers.
Apart from Kaushik, India’s Deepak Bothra also ran deep in this tournament. The former WPT India Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) champion exited in tenth place, earning VND 9,480,000 for his efforts.
